“…Under the long‐term stress, the continuous decrease of enzyme activity maybe since the accumulation of two insecticides in the crab has exceeded the tolerance of crabs. Changes of SOD and CAT activity were similar to those reported by Hong et al (Hong, Huang, Yan, Pan & Zhang, 2019), which was induced under low concentration of deltamethrin treatment, and the activity was inhibited with time, this is due to the increase in antioxidants caused by oxidative damage of organisms exposed to low concentrations; while MDA activity was not altered by the presence of deltamethrin (Hong, Huang, Yan, & Huang, 2019) . However, they found no significant change in enzyme activity, possibly because of the duration of exposure, the longest duration of which was 96 hours, while exposure in the current study was 90 days.…”

“…Histopathology in this work demonstrated that the two insecticides were respectively damaged the hepatopancreas of E. sinensis . The hepatopancreas is an extremely important organ to the crabs, which can secrete a variety of enzymes, participating in the growth, development, moulting, material metabolism, nutrient metabolism and other life activities (Hong, Huang, Yan, Pan & Zhang, 2019; Wang et al, 2016). The hepatopancreas became deformation, enlargement and had many vacuoles after exposure.…”

“…Our previous research evaluating the transcriptome, proteome and metabolome of P. plecoglossicida incubated under virulent (18°C) and avirulent (28°C) temperatures confirmed that P. plecoglossicida was a temperature-dependent facultative pathogen, and showed that htpG was significantly highly expressed under 18°C (16, 17). htpG encodes the protein HtpG, a member of heat-shock proteins (HSPs) family (18, 19), which was first described in Escherichia coli (20). Null mutation of this gene is not lethal to bacterial cells and only results in impaired growth at high temperatures (21).…”

“…For this reason, organisms have evolved a set of antioxidant defense mechanisms to prevent oxidative stress damage caused by excessive ROS. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) are considered to be important enzymes for removing ROS in crustaceans (Liu et al, 2018; Hong et al, 2019). Therefore, it is important to study the effects of air exposure stress on both respiratory metabolism and antioxidant responses in crustaceans to understand their full physiological responses to hypoxia stress.…”
