Abstract

The historical development of antitrust (competition) policy in the United States is described in this article. This is followed by a broad overview of the principle US statutes. Debate over the original intent and interpretation of these statutes is examined, as is some of the controversy surrounding the economic theory and philosophy supporting these statutes.
