“…In a review published in 2022, Siem et al reported that aortoiliac artery disease involving brucellosis is an underdiagnosed and underreported disease. [ 9 ] Brucellosis involving large arteries has occult and nonspecific manifestations and requires high suspicion. Any acute chest or abdominal pain should be suspected of aortic involvement, and a routine aortic examination should be performed to confirm aortic involvement.…”

“… 3 Infected aortic aneurysm (IAAA) is much rarer in brucellosis, 4 and the risk of death from arterial dissection is extremely high, with 71 cases identified in the last 70 years and a global mortality rate of 22%. 5 Open surgery and long-term antibiotics are usually required to complete treatment and monitor postoperative complications such as graft infection, recurrent (pseudo) aneurysms, and abscess formation. 6 The early symptoms of this disease are similar to those of many other diseases and lack specificity, especially in noninfected areas where the disease is disseminated.…”

“…The incidence of brucellosis is increasing yearly due to the successful development of animal husbandry in China, which increases the chance of human infection ( Jiang et al, 2020 ). Brucellosis has a wide range of clinical manifestations, ranging from acute indistinguishable febrile illness to chronic infectious disease that most often affects the central nervous, cardiovascular, or skeletal systems ( Willems et al, 2022 ). Although cardiovascular involvement in brucellosis is rare, complications due to cardiovascular involvement are a common cause of death from brucellosis.…”

“…We had a 6-month follow-up, and the patient was healthy and asymptomatic. A recently published review showed that in the peripheral vasculature, brucellosis most frequently affects the abdominal and thoracic aorta, with iliac and other peripheral arteries more rarely involved ( Willems et al, 2022 ). Here, we report four cases of abdominal aortic pseudoaneurysm caused by brucellosis: one patient was previously diagnosed with brucellosis before admission, the other three patients were diagnosed at examination after abdominal aortic pseudoaneurysm was detected, and all four patients were treated with an EVAR technique.…”
