This paper proposes a load shedding model for the island microgrid based on the ranking of loads and the power stability index (PSI). Loads are ranked based on the improved analytic hierarchy process (AHP) algorithm. Real-time measurement systems have the function of collecting data for very important, important, and less-important loads at each bus load. From this data, the improved AHP method is applied to rank the loads. The advantage of this method is that the subjectivity is eliminated and not depending on the expertise of the system operator when implementing the traditional AHP method. Besides, the minimum amount of load shedding power is calculated, taking into account both primary and secondary control methods. The objective is to minimize the impact on power consumers and ensure that the frequency returns to an acceptable range. In addition, when implementing load shedding, voltage quality, and stability are considered. The PSI serves as a crucial parameter for assessing the voltage stability of microgrid buses. This index is combined with load ranking weights to obtain combined weights for the load shedding plan. Consequently, the proposed load shedding plan prioritizes minimizing damage to customers, improving voltage quality and stability, and ensuring frequency is within permissible limits. The 16-bus microgrid system is applied to compare with traditional methods and to prove the efficiency of the suggested technique.

This paper proposes a new load shedding method based on the application of intelligent algorithms, the process of calculating and load shedding is carried out in two stages. Stage-1 uses a backpropagation neural network to classify faults in the system, thereby determining whether or not to shed the load in that particular case. Stage-2 uses an artificial neural network combined with an ant colony algorithm (ANN-ACO) to determine a load shedding strategy. The AHP algorithm is applied to propose load shedding strategies based on ranking the importance of loads in the system. The proposed method in the article helps to solve the integrated problem of load shedding, classifying the fault to determine whether or not to shedding the load and proposing a correct strategy for shedding the load. The IEEE 25-bus 8-generator power system is used to simulate and test the effectiveness of the proposed method, the results show that the frequency of recovery is good in the allowable range.

The sharp rise in population during the last half century has created immense pressure on the resources required for generation of energy essential to lead a comfortable and healthy lifestyle. The drive towards 100% electrification in developing countries like India has also contributed to this increase in demand. Till recently, fossil fuel was use to supply the bulk of this power. Now, the world is moving more and more towards renewable energy. This paper presents a model where several regions are combined together based on the demand profile of the regions segregated as urban, semi urban and rural along with the flexibility to schedule loads on the basis of availability of renewable energy sources within the area of the regions. The main focus is on detailed neural-networking based load forecasting and developing a load management system to manage load based on availability of distributed generation capacity and available tariff system. A solution is proposed in this paper based on a new approach to answer load management on the basis of region, population demographics and per capita energy consumption. A considerable amount of improvement to manage demand is intended to be attained and has been demonstrated in this research work.
