Application of computational fluid dynamics to predict hydrodynamic downpull on high head gates

Abstract: Purpose High head gates are commonly used in hydropower plants for flow regulation and emergence closure. Hydrodynamic downpull can be a critical parameter in design of the lifting mechanism.
