The production of energy from water represents large amounts of clean and renewable energy. However, only 30% of this energy has been developed so far. Hydropower, particularly hydropower plants, is not only environmentally friendly but also economical, and operates more efficiently than any other renewable energy system. Hydropower plants are largely automated and have relatively low operating costs. The main components of the power system must be continuously monitored and protected to maintain the quality and reliability of the power source. This task is provided by the data collection, monitoring and protection system. Turbines must be protected not only by short circuits but also by abnormal conditions. The proposed protection has been designed to avoid damaging the original power (motor or turbine), this usually happens when the generator fails, and the machine operates as a synchronous motor connected to the power system. In this case, the generator becomes an active load, causing a rise in temperature and severe damage to the main turbine, and hence it becomes a need to quickly detect these conditions. This study proposes a new controller for Neuro-Fuzzy to prevent reverse power flow and to keep the quality and reliability of supply. Fuzzy system network has attracted various scientific and engineering researchers. The new feature of this work is to adjust the membership function as a reverse mechanism derived of the Fuzzy Logic Controller. The smart meter network is the basis of the smart grid. In this study, smart grid meters were implemented using ZigBee technology based on wireless sensor networks. The ZigBee network of wireless sensors due to its low battery, low power consumption, become more useful than other wireless communication systems to provide a high-performance measurement. This study shows the ZigBee network using the OPNET simulation. Depending on the performance, parameters were analysed to understand the operating characteristics of the star, tree, and mesh.Although neural networks implement to solve tuning problems, the fuzzy logic controller is intended to use structured knowledge in the form of rules [4,5].The combination of Fuzzy Logic and neural networks provides the ability to solve optimisation problems. This new method consolidates the established advantages of both approaches and avoids the limitations of both approaches. Control algorithms are used to prevent unexpected fluctuations in voltage and frequency. Smart grids use energy storage systems and communication networks to ensure total coordination between power generation and energy use. Reduce the energy loss of the network to minimise demand and energy costs [6][7][8]. A reliable, real-time information flow among parts of the network is critical to the success of the smart grid self-regulation process. A cluster of distributed generation (DG) is a Microgrid (MG) and load which acts as a heavy load or source in the context of actual grid. The sudden gust in the microgrid causes rise in fault current which surpasses the shortcircuit limit of network equipment by microgrid connection and also the increase in penetration of DG into the grid, the fault current level is also increased simultaneously. In order to overcome this problem, fault current limiter (FCL) could be arranged between the main network and microgrid. There are different types of FCLs, which have various designs and are made of various superconducting materials. Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) is revolutionary protective device which has the ability to lower the fault current level within the fault current first cycle. The application of the SFCL would not only reduce the burden on network devices, but also offers connection for the betterment of the power system reliability. SFCL's are broadly classified into three types: inductive, resistive and hybrid SFCL. In this paper, general characteristics of FCLs, the operating characteristics, current limiting capabilities of SFCL are introduced into a simplified microgrid model system which is finally allowed that SFCL could reasonably bring about the function of microgrid stability improvement and fault current suppression.

This paper addresses the energy challenges related to the weak protection of renewable energy from reverse energy flow and expanding access to high-quality energy at the same time. Furthermore, this paper focuses on participation in the global transition to clean and low-carbon energy systems. Moreover, the increased demand for renewable energy seems to likely depend on whether it will be possible to greatly accelerate rates of progress toward increased efficiency, de-carbonization, greater generating diversity and lower pollutant emissions. This paper focuses on the protection of renewable energy technologies because they can be particularly attractive in dispersed areas and therefore, represent an important option for rural areas that lack electrical energy and distribution infrastructure. This paper proposes an improved protection device for a reverse power protection system using a new intelligent decision support system (IDSS). The IDSS is a support system for decision making, which makes extensive use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. The new method integrates the powerful specification for neural networks and fuzzy inference systems. The main advantage of this method is that it causes a decrease in the steady state oscillation for the reverse power relay. In addition, the proposed method has the ability to monitor extreme environmental conditions. The generator can be converted into a motor when the steam supply to a turbine is interrupted while the generator is still connected to a grid (or operates in parallel with another generator). As a result, the generator will become a synchronous motor and will actually cause significant mechanical damage. The reverse energy protection device should be included in the generator protection scheme. Smart grids use communication networks with sophisticated algorithms to ensure coordination between protection systems. ZigBee is a newly developed technology that can be used in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to comply with the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. Low data rates, low power consumption and low cost are key features of ZigBee. The execution of star, tree and mesh topologies as well as support comparison is based on end-to-end delay, throughput, medium access control load in addition to sent and received traffic parameters. The use of star topology obtained a delay of 0.2 s. The simulation results show that this method is superior to the traditional method in terms of speed and steady-state oscillation.
