Open-pit truck technical operation determines mined bulk transportation effectiveness increasing equipment's commercial operation duration based on a robust strategy of vehicle's maintenance, early and high-quality diagnostics, upkeep and recovery. Developed mathematical model of BelAZ open-pit truck operation for various levels of organization of servicing replicates a Markov process in the system of technological automotive transport considering possibilities of vehicle states with time and steady-state condition. The performance of open-pit trucks was consistently evaluated and the model of the technological automotive transport system was synthesized. The validation analysis of the obtained model showed its suitability for optimization of open-pit truck performance. The calculated optimal controlling actions on the open-pit truck allow developing an algorithm and technique for dynamic adjustment of parameters of maintenance, diagnostics and repair of BELAZ open-pit trucks that will become the basis for a sustainable future of industrial transport technical operation.

Operational heterogeneity and harsh environment lead to major variations in production system performance and safety. Traditional probabilistic model is dealt with time-to-event data analysis, which does not have the capability of quantifying and simulation of these types of complexities. This research proposes an integrated methodology for analyzing the impact of dominant explanatory variables on the complex system reliability. A flexible parametric proportional hazards model is developed by focusing on standard parametric Cox regression model for reliability evaluation in complex systems. To achieve this, natural cubic splines are utilized to create a smooth and flexible baseline hazards function where the standard parametric distribution functions do not fit into the failure data set. A real case study is considered to evaluate the reliability for multi-component mechanical systems such as mining equipment. Different operational and environmental explanatory variables are chosen for the analysis process. Research findings revealed that precise estimation of the baseline hazards function is a major part of the reliability evaluation in heterogeneous environment. It is concluded that an appropriate maintenance strategy potentially mitigate the equipment failure intensity.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to compute reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) indices to measure and improve the performance of an automated croissant production line under real working conditions. Based on this study, the authors demonstrate how RAM analysis is very useful for deciding maintenance intervals and for planning and organizing the adequate maintenance strategy. Design/methodology/approach The present work is carried out by analyzing failure and repair data based on statistical techniques. Descriptive statistics of the failure and repair data at workstation and line level were carried out. Trend and serial correlation tests validated the assumption of independence and identical distribution of the failure data were conducted. Moreover, the reliability and maintainability of both the croissant production line and its workstations have been estimated at different mission times with their best fit distribution. Findings The main objectives of the applied method are to understand the nature of the failure patterns, and to estimate the reliability and maintainability characteristics of the croissant production system in precise quantitative terms. The analysis identifies the critical points of the production line that require further improvement through effective maintenance strategy. Originality/value This study is anticipated to serve as an illuminating effort in conducting a complete RAM analysis and its effect on the performance of the system that works under real conditions. The advantage of the methodology is the continuous monitoring of the production process through appropriate indices, the utilization of which leads to a continuous cycle of improvement.
