“…The thermal and mechanical properties of the coated separators were studied before being wetted with the electrolyte. The presence of SiO 2 decreased the separator thermal dimensional stability more than Al 2 O 3 , but the separator containing equal parts SiO 2 and Al 2 O 3 showed the lowest shrinkage after being exposed to 150 °C for 60 min . Similarly, the mechanical fracture strength is highest for the separator containing equal parts SiO 2 and Al 2 O 3 , 160 MPa for the coated separator compared to 138 MPa for the Celgard PE separator.…”

“…When wet with 0.5 m LiTFSI EMITFSI IL electrolyte the coated separators had ionic conductivities in the order of 1 mS cm −1 , and the highest ionic conductivity (3.2 mS cm −1 ) was observed in the separator containing equal parts SiO 2 and Al 2 O 3 . The authors attribute the enhanced ionic conductivity to strong interaction between the ceramic particles and TFSI − resulting in more free lithium ions and therefore a higher lithium transference number.…”
