Abstract:In this article, the multilevel compressed block decomposition algorithm (MLCBD) is introduced to provide a data‐sparse way to approximate the inverse of the sparse coefficient matrix produced by the finite‐element time‐domain (FETD) method which is dense originally. Once the approximate inverse is obtained, the FETD method can be computed explicitly at each time step.
