Application of Traffic Weighted Multi-Maps Based on Disjoint Routing Areas for Static Traffic Assignment

Alvaro Paricio-Garcia,
Miguel A. Lopez-Carmona

Abstract: Urban traffic congestion is a pressing issue, demanding effective and cost-efficient solutions. This paper develops the Traffic Weighted Multi-Maps (TWM) method to solve the Traffic Assignment Problem in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). TWM offers drivers diverse views of the network, promoting path diversity and adaptability. Providing an optimal TWM configuration to the traffic demand in terms of structure and allocation policy is a challenging issue as it usually depends on the size of the network … Show more

“…Several publications deal with the optimal performance of road freight transport through an efficient organization of transport tasks resulting in the reduction in transport costs [34][35][36]. The relevant publications discuss the optimal design of round trips using different methods, for example, the selection of optimal transport routes, the elimination of empty runs, the integration of several transport tasks into one round trip, as well as the use of multimodal transport modes to maximize the use of vehicle capacity [37][38][39][40]. The relevant publications dealing with the overall costs of transport activity have also been reviewed [41][42][43].…”
