Application Progress of Conventional and New Techniques of Ultrasound in Prediction of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Response in Breast Cancer

Abstract

The incidence and mortality rate of breast cancer in women currently ranks first worldwide. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is increasingly used to improve the feasibility and success rate of breast conserving surgery, but neoadjuvant chemotherapy is ineffective to some patients. Ineffective neoadjuvant chemotherpy may delay surgical treatment. At present, various ultrasound techniques have been widely used in prediction of neoadjuvant chemotherapy response in breast cancer. This paper reviews the role and development of conventional and new ultrasound techniques in the efficacy evaluation of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer.
