Presently cities are undergoing changes and transformations due to the adoption of information and communications technology. Enterprise Architecture (EA) is one of the approaches adopted by practitioners and researchers to facilitate smart city development as it can enhance the effectiveness of cities’ digital resources and sustainability capabilities. But, despite several literature on EA, studies on the adoption of EA to improve the sustainability of cities are still at the early stage. Besides, there are fewer studies that provided evidence on the adoption of EA to make cities sustainable grounded on established theoretical models and quantitative data. Therefore, this study aims to provide an understanding on the adoption of EA by different practitioners involved in a smart city project. Knowledge transfer and support services are integrated as new external variables needed to improve practitioners’ behavior intention and actual adoption of EA in making cities smarter. A model is developed grounded on an extension of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and data were collected via a cross-country survey. Partial least squares-structural equation modeling was employed to analyze the data. Findings from this study offer implications for research and practice and provide opportunities for future research.

Purpose The concept of green urban mobility has emerged as one of the best approaches for promoting environmental-friendly transportation in local communities. Green urban mobility aims to reshape public transportation system and enhance mobility, with emphasis on deploying digital technologies to promote sustainable public transportation. Therefore, this study aims to analyze existing public transportation policies by exploring how local communities can facilitate green urban mobility by developing a sociotechnical urban-based mobility model highlighting key factors that impact regions transitioning toward sustainable transportation. Design/methodology/approach This study investigates “the role of data for green urban mobility policies toward sustainable public transportation in local communities” in the form of a systematic literature review and insights from Norway. Secondary data from the literature and qualitative analysis of the national transport plan document was descriptively analyzed to provide inference. Findings Findings from this study provides specific measures and recommendations as actions for achieving a national green mobility practice. More important, findings from this study offers evidence from the Norwegian context to support decision-makers and stakeholders on how sustainable public transportation can be achieved in local communities. In addition, findings present data-driven initiatives being put in place to promote green urban mobility to decrease the footprint from public transportation in local municipalities. Practical implications This study provides green mobility policies as mechanisms to be used to achieve a sustainable public transportation in local communities. Practically, this study advocates for the use of data to support green urban mobility for transport providers, businesses and municipalities administration by analyzing and forecasting mobility demand and supply in terms of route, cost, time, network connection and mode choice. Social implications This study provides factors that would promote public and nonmotorized transportation and also aid toward achieving a national green urban mobility strategy. Socially, findings from this study provides evidence on specific green urban mobility measures to be adopted by stakeholders in local communities. Originality/value This study presents a sociotechnical urban-based mobility model that is positioned between the intersection of “human behavior” and “infrastructural design” grounded on the factors that influence green urban mobility policies for local communities transiting to a sustainable public transportation. Also, this study explores key factors that may influence green urban mobility policies for local communities toward achieving a more sustainable public transportation leading to a more inclusive, equitable and accessible urban environment.

A Concept of V2G Battery Charging Station as the Implementation of IoT and Cyber Physical Network System

The integration of the internet of things (IoT) and cyber physical network into the battery charging station system is critical to the success and long-term viability of the vehicle to grid (V2G) trend for future automobiles in terms of environmental and energy sustainability. The goal of this article is to create a V2G battery charging station concept using the internet of things (IoT) and a cyber physical network system. The V2G charging station concept was developed with the idea that every charging electric vehicle (EV) can communicate and coordinate with the charging station's control center, which includes a cyber physical system that addresses privacy and security concerns. The communication protocol must also be considered by the charging station. The preliminary test has been taken into consideration. Normal hours (for case one), peak hours (for case two), and valley hours (for case three), respectively, were created as charging circumstances for EVs at charging stations. Simulations were run for each of the three case scenarios. Each EV's battery state of charge (SoC) is provided a 50 percent initial charge and user-defined SoC restrictions. The MATLAB/SIMULINK platform was used to run the case simulations. The grid frequency, charging station output power, and the EV's battery SoC were all observed during the 24hour simulation. As a result, the developed V2G charging station concept can regulate its input and output power depending on the battery status of the EVs inside the charging station, as well as provide frequency regulation service to the grid while meeting the energy demand of EV customers.
