Applying IT-Governance Frameworks for SOA and Cloud Governance

Abstract: Abstract. Service-oriented architecture (SOA) in the enterprise was one of the key enablers for cloud computing. Therefore, it can serve as a natural fit for bringing traditional IT governance approaches forward to the challenges of cloud governance. In this work we present an approach for mapping IT governance mindsets to the aspects of SOA governance. It allows an IT organisation the adaptation and the continuous usage of already established governance models during the adoption of cloud computing solutions.… Show more

“…Furthermore, this technology increases the optimization of resources and simplifies the collaboration Duran-Limon et al (2011;Park and Ryoo, 2013;Stantchev, 2009). However, the cloud applications face a number of challenges and present feasible problems as mentioned in (Colomo Palacios et al, 2014;Rebollo et al, 2012;Stantchev and Malek, 2011) the cloud technology creates risks in the computing industry related to the corporate governance issues, managing of services and their availability Stantchev and Stantcheva, 2013).…”

“…In [10] the author focused on major challenges that hinder adoption, while in [11] authors discussed specific discovery techniques in the context of QoS consideration. In [12] authors propose the application of traditional IT governance frameworks such as ITIL and CoBIT and in [13] they discuss knowledge-specific aspects. Specific to the role of marketplaces is the work published in [14], [15] with [16] focusing specifically on trust in cloud marketplaces.…”

“…One major aspect of governance in the context of IT is the development and facilitation of IT governance frameworks. The objective is to define standardized processes and control metrics for IT provision (Stantchev & Stantcheva, 2012) and to offer approaches for the application of these artefacts in real world organizations (Stantchev & Stantcheva, 2013). Commonly used frameworks area include the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) (Van Bon, 2008) and the Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) (Lawton, 2007).…”
