“…Specifically, although the aerogel was initially impregnated with metal ions, the diffusion of the reducing agent may have led to a skin-core structure thus forming a denser network on the edge of the monoliths. This phenomenon may have been enhanced for the MPTMS samples since smaller channels were made available for liquid and ion diffusion due to the thickness of the grafted layer as previously reported for other type of silane grafting across silica matrixes23. However, above 1 M of AgNO 3 , the particle size was found to increase dramatically likely due to the quicker nucleation and high contacting chance between already formed particles and ions at higher Ag + concentrations24.…”

“…Additionally, in a previous work, the present study’s authors have reported the loss of APTES by TGA in an N 2 atmosphere [38], and another group has showed that there is little change in the TG profile of grafted silica nanoparticles done under O 2 , although the final mass loss content did not present a significant difference [39]. …”

“…From Table , the pore diameter of poly (SSA‐NVI)/KIT‐6 is 7 nm. However, after the incorporation of metal nanoparticles, it is enhanced to 8 nm in Ni‐Pd@poly (SSA‐NVI)/KIT‐6, which it can be related to the physical pressure of these nanoparticles from inside to the wall of the pores . In addition, the MP‐plot and t‐plot confirm the existence of micropores beside of the mesopores for both poly (SSA‐NVI)/KIT‐6 and Ni‐Pd@poly (SSA‐NVI)/KIT‐6 (Table ), and also the diameters of micropores are equal for these samples, which shows that the Ni‐Pd nanoparticles are just placed into the mesopores.…”
