“…The South African Scoring System (SASS) (Chutter, 1994;Dickens & Graham, 2002) and its associated ASPT were calculated as well as Hilsenhoff Family Level Biotic Index (FBI) (Hilsenhoff, 1988). The BMWP was developed in Britain across a wide range of river types including smaller upland streams and has been shown to be reliable across a wide altitudinal gradient (Armitage et al, 1983;Zamora-Muñoz et al, 1995), the system assigns each family a score between one and ten, based on its sensitivity to organic pollutants.
