“…Frequent use of substances was found to predict help-seeking for suicidal thoughts, with students with reports of greater substance use expressing lower intentions to seek help for suicidal thoughts. Scholars have also previously identified that past month high-intensity drinking was associated with lower awareness of services (Pasman et al, 2023), thereby likely impacting help-seeking behavior.
