Are corepressors always repressors?

Abstract: In this review we summarize data on paradox actions of corepressors, acting under certain circumstances as activators of transcription. Putative mechanisms, including the role of splice variants, recruitment of coactivators by corepressors and the importance of chromatin structure and hormone response elements are discussed.
