The goal of this study was to assess how a training module on science, technology, society, and the environment (STSE) concepts affected college students' capacity for ethical reasoning and decision-making. 48 female students were divided equally into an experimental group that received STSE-based education and a control group that received regular instruction as part of a quasi-experimental design. A decision-making test and an ethical reasoning scale were used in pre-and post-intervention evaluations to gauge the effectiveness of the instructional intervention. The findings showed that the STSE technique significantly improved decision-making skills and ethical reasoning abilities, favoring the experimental group. Notably, a significant relationship between ethical reasoning and judgment was found. These findings underscore the significance of crafting instructional modules grounded in the STSE framework across diverse academic disciplines, offering potential benefits for holistic student skill development in various curricular contexts.

In order to achieve this, it would be appropriate for ethics committees to look into the real needs of the professionals in their institutions in relation to ethics in order to be in tune with their mission (Altisent, Buil, and Delgado-Marroquín 2012). While this perspective may be seen to apply to the United States without causing problems, in many countries the distance between the expert field of bioethics and health care staff at a patient's bedside is so great that much work needs to be done.…”

Los comités de ética asistencial se encuentran en una fase determinante para su consolidación. Es necesario mejorar su conocimiento entre los profesionales y la sociedad, así como la accesibilidad y la sintonía con las auténticas necesidades de su entorno asistencial. Es muy conveniente articular procedimientos para dar agilidad de respuesta a quienes solicitan asesoramiento, donde la figura de los consultores puede ser de ayuda. La evaluación de la calidad con indicadores que permitan establecer comparaciones será un aspecto clave de esta etapa en la que los comités deben demostrar su eficiencia. Los centros sanitarios necesitan gerentes con capacidad de liderazgo y sensibilidad para entender la trascendencia de lo que es un comité de ética asistencial y su potencial contribución a la vida del sistema sanitario, lo cual se traducirá en proporcionar los recursos necesarios para garantizar su adecuada actividad.
