Arqueologia Distópica: a implementação da lógica do capital na gestão do patrimônio

Abstract

RESUMODesde os anos 1980, a privatização do setor arqueológico espelha seu contexto político-econômico. Depois da crise financeira de 2008 e de seus efeitos devastadores na comunidade profissional, este sistema tem sido objeto de crescentes críticas. O objetivo deste artigo é demonstrar a configuração altamente problemática da arqueologia privada pra seus praticantes, para a cultura material e para a vasta maioria do público. Os sistemas da arqueologia em vários países são explorados, incluindo Canadá, Austrália e Japão. Uma mudança radical da lógica dominante do capital, no sentido de alternativas cooperativas e colaborativas, viáveis a longo prazo e reconectadas às pessoas no presente, é sugerida como uma alternativa mais factível.. ABSTRACTSince the 1980s, privatization of the archaeological sector mirrored its contextual political economy. After the financial crisis of 2008, and its devastating effects on the professional community, this system has been subject to more and more criticism. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the highly problematic setup of privatized archaeology for practitioners, material culture, and the vast majority of the public. The archaeological systems in a number of countries, including Canada, Australia, and Japan are explored. A radical change from the dominant logic of capital, towards cooperative and collaborative alternatives, viable in the long-term, and relinked to people, in the present is suggested as a more feasible alternative.
