“…As the redox potential decreased and iron oxides were subjected to reductive dissolution, arsenic sorbed to the oxide phases in the soil was released into solution. Iron-arsenic geochemistry in the reduced soil mixture displayed similar interactions previously described in the literature (Gustafsson and Tin 1994;McGeehan and Naylor 1994;McGeehan 1996;Reynolds et al 1999;Welch et al 2000; and references therein).…”

“…These results may be related to the high As concentrations in bioavailable fractions in the Can Gio mangrove sediments (Table SD2). In Vietnam, soils are naturally rich in As (Gustafsson andTin 1994, Nguyen et al 2016), which may explain its accumulation in mangrove sediments and then its transfer to mangrove roots. We suggest that As may be incorporated into iron plaque at the roots surface, which restricted As transfer to aerial parts.…”

“…In the pyrite structure, As can readily substitute for Sand accumulate in the mineral as a trace or minor constituent. Recently, Gustafsson and Tin (1994) also found As content between 6-41 mg As kg-in acid sulfate soils in Mekong delta, Vietnam. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) study indicated that the organic matter remnants were roots of mangrove tree.…”
