Article Reviewing Transdermal Drug Delivery System

Abstract: Topically applied pharmaceuticals in the form of patches that distribute medications for systemic effects at predefined and controlled rates are known as "transdermal drug delivery systems." The main function of TDDS is penetration of drug through skin. It works extremely simple, with the medicine being put within the patch and is placed on the skin. As a result, a consistent concentration of medication remains in the bloodstream for an extended period. They come in variety of forms, including single-layer dru… Show more

“…There has recently been a surge of interest in novel drug delivery systems for existing drug molecules. The novel drug delivery system improves patient compliance while increasing the safety and efficiency of a drug molecule 1 . Dermal (topical) drug delivery is used to define localized action to the pathological sites within the skin with minimal systemic absorption.…”

“…TDDS has piqued attention as a viable alternative to oral medications and hypodermic injections [1]. When especially in comparison to oral or systemic dosing strategies, TDDS allows for sustained release of the drug into patients, minimizing Hepatic first-pass biotransformation effects, lessening systemic adverse outcomes, enhancing dose efficiency during entire treatment by allowing for consistent blood drug profiles, and better patient adherence.…”
