Assembly and electroanalytical performance of Prussian blue/polypyrrole composite nanoparticles synthesized by the reverse micelle method

Abstract: We report on the characterization, assembly and electroanalytical performance of Prussian blue/polypyrrole (PBPPy) composite nanoparticles synthesized by the reverse micelle method. Scanning electron microscopy suggests the formation of nanosized PBPPy particles with diameters between 40 and 50 nm. Optical absorption confirms that the particles are composed of Prussian blue (PB) and polypyrrole. PB and PBPPy nanoparticles were anchored onto the surface of cysteine-modified Au electrodes. Cyclic voltammetry exp… Show more

“…[Fe II (CN) 6 ] 3 is more facile than the oxidation of K 4 Fe 4 II [Fe II (CN) 6 ] 3 . 69 The much more poorly defined redox couple in Figure 4c implies that Na + ions cannot as readily enter the PB lattice during the reduction process. 70 Despite the difficulty of inserting Na + ions into the PB lattice during the potential scan, a mass change is still evident in Figure 4c.…”

“…The emergence of nanomedicine has given PBNPs new significance in the field of DDS. PBNPs are iron based nanoparticles and can be prepared in large quantities by simple methods at low temperatures [ 93 ]. Similar to iron oxide nanoparticles, PBNPs have proven to be a powerful contrast agent for MRI with the application of DDS, and their chemical stability, cytotoxicity and cell penetration have also been demonstrated [ 94 ].…”
