“…the CIA values of fresh basalts (CIA = 30-45%, Nesbitt and Young, 1982 and U, in covariance diagrams (Cann, 1970, Li et al, 2008, 2010. As shown in Figure 9, the trace elements possess a linear relationship with Zr, which indicates that the trace elements are immobile during later ocean floor alteration and metamorphism.…”

“…A hydrothermal heat flux is therefore prescribed here at the bottom of the ocean and is spatially uniform except where enhanced flux is prescribed to simulate the effect of spreading ridges. These enhanced geothermal areas are prescribed in the model runs shown in the paper to be not far from the equator (motivated by the Neoproterozoic continental reconstruction of 30 ), and the geothermal flux there is up to four times its background value. The observed background flux away from ocean ridges is about 0.05 W m −2 , and the flux observed at mid--ocean ridges is about 4 times larger, such that the average over ocean basins is estimated to be of the order of 0.1 Wm −2 (see, for example, Table 4 of 39 ).…”

“…The two blocks have been considered to have amalgamated at the end of the Mesoproterozoic to form the Sibao Orogen (inset of Fig. 1) associated with the assembly of Rodinia and to occupy an intracratonic keystone position between Australia and Laurentia (e.g., Li et al, 1995Li et al, , 2002Li et al, , 2008cCharvet et al, 1996;Ye et al, 2007;Boger et al, 2000;Li et al, 2008bLi et al, , 2009). However, an interior location within Rodinia does not fit readily with the presence of early Neoproterozoic (∼970-900 Ma) rock units of arc or back-arc basin affinities in the easternmost Yangtze Block (e.g., Shui, 1988;Li et al, , 2008aLi et al, 2006Li et al, , 2009Ye et al, 2007;Gao et al, 2009;Chen et al, 2009a,b;Shu et al, 2011;Cawood et al, 2013).…”
