Assessing risk factors for COVID‐19 pneumonia in Chinese patients with pre‐existing interstitial lung disease

Abstract

We read with great interest the study by Shao et al., which investigated the risk factors for COVID-19 pneumonia in Chinese patients with pre-existing interstitial lung disease (ILD). 1 According to this study, being male and using corticosteroids were associated with a higher risk of COVID-19 pneumonia. In contrast, vaccination was associated with a reduced risk of COVID-19 pneumonia. 1 While this study contributes to a better understanding of SARS-CoV-2 infection among patients with ILD, we have several concerns about their findings.
