TRAFFIC NOISE EXPERIENCED ON BUSES, TRAMS AND CARS IN THE URBAN AGGLOMERATION OF THE CITY OF KATOWICE Summary. Transport noise is one of the biggest problems faced by urban agglomerations. Therefore, more and more activities are being undertaken related to its reduction. The article attempts to investigate the noise level on public transport vehicles, buses, trams and passenger cars, from the passenger's perspective. The assessment is based on the results of field tests. The study considered wheeled and rail vehicles, including a new generation of buses and tramways, as well as a car subjected to many years of operation. The research was carried out in the city of Katowice. The conducted experiment showed comparable high values for recorded volume levels on trams and buses, as well as a relatively low noise level in the passenger car.

In accordance with Directive 2002/49/CE (2017), the number of people that live in a building should be associated with the highest level of Lden or Lnight of the most exposed facade, for every typology of noise. This estimate isn't easy to automatize and overestimates can be generated especially when the cartography of the buildings is poorly detailed (for example when several buildings are unified into a single block).…”

ABSTRACT:This paper analyzes criticalities and strengthens of a procedure used to model the acoustic map of the vehicular traffic of an urban agglomeration. The research is based on a pilot project for the acoustic mapping of a portion of the city of Palermo (Italy). Simulations indicate that the acoustic climate was in line with expectations and with typical of large Italian cities. The most remarkable result was obtained by an increase in the number of reflections (from two to five), while the influence of the height of the building (from 9 to 18 meters) was negligible -on the order of a few points per thousand. Regarding the analysis conducted with the "Gden Method", acoustic values do not diverge significantly from the other Italian cities, registering values that were, however, the highest in the investigated sample.

U lizando simulação computacional, concluiu-se que, muito embora, a implantação do VLT proporcione redução do ruído ambiental, este ainda permanece acima do limite norma vo, indicando a necessidade de adoção de gestão integrada para mi gação da poluição sonora urbana. Mediante simulación por ordenador, se concluyó que, si bien la aplicación del Sistema de Tren Eléctrico Urbano proporciona ruido ambiental reducido, todavía se man ene por encima del límite legal, lo que indica la necesidad de ges ón integrada para la mi gación de la contaminación acús ca urbana.
