“…Greater differences between PCV and GCV were seen for the characteristics of seed yield per plant and harvest index, which suggests the influence of the environment on phenotypic development. Any breeding material must exhibit genetic variation since it not only serves as a foundation for selection but also offers important insights into the choice of varied parents to be employed in hybrid programmes [9].…”

“…Genetic diversity and multivariate analysis research are critical for successful evaluation of genotypes. Genetic variability studies provide useful information that can be used as selection criteria in breeding programs [33][34]15]. In the current study, 30 quantitative traits were assayed in 40 linseed genotypes for selecting the superior genotypes and traits.…”

“…Genetic variation and the mode of inheritance of quantitative and qualitative traits are crucial in the planning of a breeding program [12,13]. Genetic parameters such as the genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and the phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) can be used to detect the amount of heterogeneity in a germplasm sample [14,15]. The evaluation of the variability of the yield and its related traits becomes essential before planning a suitable breeding strategy for genetic improvement [14].…”

“…UDNA 1-2-5, EC 322661, BAU 610-A, LCK 9312 had high mean yield (>3.0 g/plant) can be subjected for fibre, bold seeded and high yield through simple selection based on phenotypic performance. The characters PH, TH, CPP, TSW and SYPP showed high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicated additive type of gene action for these traits and can be exploited to produce better genotypes in linseed breeding as suggested by Kaur et al (2018) and Upadhyay et al (2019). The parameter DF and SPC showed high heritability coupled with medium genetic advance and DM showed high heritability coupled with low GA which indicated the importance of dominance and epistatic effects in the inheritance of these traits and selection for these characters would be less effective, so hybridization will be needed for their improvement.…”
