Abstract:Surge is a phenomenon that limits the operating range of the compressor at low engine speeds and high boost pressure in turbocharged powertrains. This article assesses two prototype turbochargers of variable geometry orifice (VGO) which compensate for the limitation of the boost pressure at low engine speeds.
