Assigning the newly reported Σb(6097) as a P -wave excited state and predicting its partners

Abstract: The newly observed Σ b ð6097Þ provides us a good chance to further construct the high excited states of the bottom baryon family. In this work, we explain the Σ b ð6097Þ to be a 1P state with J P ¼ 5=2 − or 3=2 − by giving the mass spectrum analysis and the strong decay calculation, and predict the existence of 1P and 2S partners of the Σ b ð6097Þ, where their masses and the corresponding decay behaviors are presented. Because of the success of describing the Σ b ð6097Þ and the former observed Ξ b ð6227Þ under… Show more

“…The total decay widths of our predictions are larger than that of the potential model, but the main decay mode is consistent with each other [15]. With the relatively narrow total widths and dominating decay mode Ξ bK , these two Ω b (2S ) states have good potentials to be observed in the Ξ bK mass spectrum in future experiments.…”

“…Recently, the LHCb Collaboration discovered, one after another, two new bottom baryon states, the Ξ b (6227) − by studying its final states of the Λ 0 b K − and Ξ 0 b π − [2], and the Σ b (6097) ± in the final states of Λ 0 b π ± [3]. Their properties and inner structure become hot topics for the heavy baryon study, for which a set of discussions have been made [4][5][6]. Most of them prefer the 1P-wave accommodation with J P = 3/2 − or 5/2 − for these two baryons.…”

“…In 2018, the LHCb Collaboration observed two new bottom baryons, the Ξ b (6227) − in the Λ 0 b K − and Ξ 0 b π − invariant mass spectra [2], and the Σ b (6097) ± , in the Λ 0 b π ± final states from pp collision [3]. The two baryons become the key states for establishing the excited bottom baryon family, in which the former are argued to be the strange partner of the latter in the P-wave state with J P = 3/2 − or 5/2 − [4][5][6].…”

“…In 2018, the LHCb collaboration announced the observation of a new bottom baryon Ξ b (6227) − in both Λ b K − and Ξ 0 b π − decay modes [16] and found two new resonances Σ b (6097) ± in the Λ b π ± channels [17]. Both the Σ b (6097) ± and Ξ b (6227) − states favor P wave states with spin-parity J P = 3/2 − or J P = 5/2 − [18][19][20][21][22][23]. Recently, the LHCb collaboration announced the observation of two new bottom baryons Λ b (6146) and Λ b (6152) in the Λ b π + π − decay mode [24].…”
