Association between Attitudes to Self Management on Adherence in Restriction Fluid and Dietary among Patient Hemodialysis Related to Hypervolemia

Abstract: This study aims to determine the relationship between hemodialysis patients' attitudes toward self-management and adherence to fluid restriction and hemodialysis diet related to hypervolemia. This research method is a Literature review. The data used in this study comes from reputable journal articles published nationally and internationally in national and international online journals. The results showed that the risk of hypervolemia was reduced when patients could manage their health by performing self-care… Show more

“…ESRD patients who are unable to regulate themselves in consuming sodium are the cause of increased sodium levels [31]. Restriction of sodium intake is one of the dietary requirements of hemodialysis patients, which aims to control BP and edema [32]. BP of hemodialysis patients almost always increases, the mechanism of increasing BP is due to accumulation of salt and water or the Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone (RAA) system [33].…”

“…Eğitim durumunda yükselme sıvı kontrolüne uyumu arttırdığı için diyaliz öncesi potasyum değerlerinde düşme olduğu saptanmıştır (34). Mananawan ve Rosa'nın (35) yaptığı araştırmada sıvı kontrolüne uyum sağlayamayan hastaların diyaliz öncesi fosfor değeri 7,5 mg/dl den yüksek ve potasyum seviyesi 6mEq/L den fazla olduğu saptanmıştır. Araştırmada hastaların diyaliz öncesi sodyum değeri diyaliz sonrası sodyum değerinden düşük bulunmuştur.…”

“…Patients find it difficult to follow treatment recommendations [2] and physical activity management [3]. Meanwhile, self-regulation is needed by HD patients to maintain compliance and limit fluid intake [4], treatment of medication [5], diet [6], and physical activity management [7]. Low self-regulation including maintaining fluid needs, medication, diet, and physical activity is the highest risk factor for hemodialysis failure.…”
