Association Between Systemic and Local Oxidative Stress of Infertile Women Undergoing Ivf/Icsi

Abstract: Oxidative stress (OS) may affect in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes in infertile women undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI). The aim of this study is to explore the possible relationships between OS parameters in serum and follicular fluid (FF) from infertile women with male cause infertility (n=40), women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) (n=40), and women with unexplained infertility (UI)(n=45) undergoing IVF/ICSI. The collection of blood and FF samples was don… Show more

“…Oxidative stress (OS) arises from a perturbation in the equilibrium between the generation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and the protective mechanisms provided by antioxidant defense systems. The depletion of antioxidants takes place, leading to dysfunction and harm at the cellular level [10]. The occurrence of oxidative stress in the lungs as a result of nicotine exposure has been documented in many rat models Cell membrane damage is a consequence of lipid peroxidation resulting from heightened oxidative stress, [11] [12].…”

“…There is much infertility management that helps to solve the problem by either hormonal treatment or Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) such as Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI), In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) (3) .…”
