“…Prescribing isotretinoin for patients with current history or having active signs of depression should be taken with caution (Daunton, Oyebode, & Goulding, 2019). Hyperhomocysteinemia was associated with more than threefolds and sixfolds increased risk for the development of depression and generalized anxiety disorder, respectively (Saraswathy, Ansari, Kaur, Joshi, & Chandel, 2019). Starting Vitamin B12 and folic acid replacement alongside isotretinoin could prevent folic acid deficiency and improving blood homocysteine levels possibly reducing the possible risk for neuropsychiatric disorders in patients under isotretinoin (Ghiasi, Mortazavi, & Jafari, 2018).…”
