Abstract: Down syndrome (DS) is characterized by severe neurodevelopmental alterations that ultimately lead to the typical hallmark of DS: intellectual disability. In the DS brain, since the prenatal life stages, the number of astrocytes is disproportional compared to the healthy brain.
