Abstract: Background. Enterococci are facultative anaerobic, Gram-positive bacteria found in pairs and short chains that exist as normal microflora both human and animal. Enterococci have become a substantial source of nosocomial infections in immunocompromised patients, such as urinary tract infection (UTI), bacteremia, endocarditis, and wound infection.
