Atomic force microscopy of nanostructured gold films after their irradiation with a powerful pulsed microwave radiation

Abstract: The possibility of using microwave radiation in combination with metallic nanoobjects for cancer therapy has been studied. The results of optical and atomic force investigations of nanostructured metallic films used for testing the methods of such a therapy have been presented. The size of metal clusters separated from the film by microwave pulses has been estimated. Possible mechanisms for the destruction of cancer cells by nanostructures affected by microwave radiation have been considered.
