Automated user-oriented description of emerging composite ambient applications

Abstract: Ambient environments consist of components surrounding the user and offering services. Applications can here be composed opportunistically and automatically by an intelligent system that puts together available components. Thus, applications that are a priori unknown emerge from the environment. The problem is in the intelligible presentation to an average user of those emerging composite applications. Our approach consists in automatic generation of user-oriented application descriptions from unit description… Show more

“…While the composition of general software modules and services for pervasive environments has been studied extensively [25][26][27], sometimes even with a focus on explaining behaviour [28], the generated explanations are concerned with general system behaviour, not focussing specifically on interaction capabilities. While these can be handled by existing approaches, a clearer focus might improve the quality of the outcome of the composition, the ease of use of the specification process, the efficiency of the system, or the understandability of the generated explanations.…”

“…We have defined the rule-based description language in [Koussaifi et al, 2019]. In accordance with Ghiani et al [Ghiani et al, 2017], rules conform to the trigger-action style because of "its compact and intuitive structure".…”
