Availability of Differential GPS by Latitude-and-longitude Correction Method in Fisheries Research

Abstract

Differential GPS ( DGPS )position fix was carried out with laser one in surveying over a coastal man ・ made fish bank area within the sight from the coast of Omi ・ Island near the western point of Japan main land ， August in 1993． Latitudinal and Iongitudinal corrections were obtained at the reference station in Natienal Fisheries University about 48km south of the surveyed area ． The survey ship ' s positions corrected by the DGPS were compared with those measured by the laser position fix，The accuracy of the DGPS positions was proved to be high ，and this method effectively helped the lal )oratory work to draw the chart of the man − made reef area ，
