Leaf proportion was higher in ryegrass (70%), followed by O+R (64%) and oat (52%). Swards managed by LI had higher proportion of leaves and less stem than those harvested at FIXED intervals. The proportion of ryegrass was higher under the LI management (64%), than under the FIXED (70%). Over … Show more

“…Moreover, the leaves and stems presented higher digestibility (IVDMD). Tonato et al (2014) with black oats and annual ryegrass under intermittent stocking, and grazing strategy based on 95% LI and fixed rest period (30days), registered that in ryegrass pastures managed with 95% LI the proportion of leaves is larger and the proportion of stems is lower.…”

“…The greater range of grazing was observed in Barjumbo ryegrass intercropped, probably due to the lowest rate of daily accumulation, and by Barjumbo ryegrass has not presented a good production yield. Tonato et al (2014) conducted a study with black oat pasture and Italian ryegrass light interception and uncovered that single Common ryegrass cutting interval was of 18 days, but when it was intercropped with black oat this range rose to 23.7 days, and finally the single oat presented 32.3 days interval. High: output with 50% of input height; Low: output with 30% of input height.…”

“…Integrated crop-livestock systems (ICLS) can contribute to cattle farming, mainly through the use of inactive areas (Tonato et al, 2014), which can be occupied with winter pastures (Silveira et al, 2017). In grass-feeding systems, fluctuations in forage availability throughout the year make the activity challenging, however, planting forage in idle areas and storing the surplus allows for greater stability (Santos et al, 2010).…”
