“…Further evidence came from UBA studies, three of which reported a decrease in the incidence of MRSA acquisition when PCR screening was introduced, [79][80][81] and four of which reported a decrease in reducing TAT. 11,79,[81][82][83] There was strong evidence from a total of 45 studies, 5,[7][8][9][10][11]13,14,16,17,19,[22][23][24]27,[29][30][31][32]35,[37][38][39][40][41]43,45,[47][48][49][50][51]53,57,[58][59][60][61]62,64,65,67,…”

“…The GENSPEED ® MRSA Test Kit succeeded with this. Several other sampling kits are able to extract DNA from clinical specimens and identify MRSA but detection of the mecC gene is not incorporated yet . Another issue is to handle mixed samples containing MRSE and MSSA.…”

“…Within the German cohort, the MRSA prevalence was relatively low (n=2/100) which reflects earlier dataset of the University Clinic in Magdeburg. All MRSA and MSSA isolates were negative for PVL gene [11][12][13].…”

“…Overall, the study data of the two cohorts indicate geographical differences among nasal colonization by staphylococci, including MSSA and MRSA, and other Gram-positive and -negative bacterial species. S. aureus colonization was less common in Eritrean pediatric cohort; in contrast, the occurrence of this species including low number of methicillin resistant isolates was observed more frequently in the German cohort which corresponds to the local epidemiologic prevalence and clonality of MRSA in the study region [11][12][13]. Controlled, prospective clinical trials in the future might be helpful to determine whether nasal carriage of Gramnegative bacteria in such patients lead to the incidence of infection with these bacterial organisms.…”
