Abstract:This chapter is a postprint that provides an overview of the bearded pig (Sus barbatus) in Sabah, including background, taxonomy, natural history, cultural significance, distribution, and conservation. The chapter also includes a status update of the impact of African Swine Fever (ASF) on local collapse of bearded pig populations across Sabah in 2020 and 2021. This chapter was published by WWF-Malaysia in the Wildlife Atlas of Sabah: maps and conservation, edited by Dr. Glyn Davies.
