Behaviour of Distribution Grids with the Highest PV Share Using the Volt/Var Control Chain Strategy

Abstract: The large-scale integration of rooftop PVs stalls due to the voltage limit violations they provoke, the uncontrolled reactive power flow in the superordinate grids and the information and communications technology (ICT) related challenges that arise in solving the voltage limit violation problem. This paper attempts to solve these issues using the LINK-based holistic architecture, which takes into account the behaviour of the entire power system, including customer plants. It focuses on the analysis of the beh… Show more

“…This technique makes robust decisions against uncertainty of the input parameters. The optimal bidding strategy in day-ahead electricity market considering uncertainties of market price is performed by implementing IGDT in [74]. Nojavan et al [75] proposed a method based on IGDT to evaluate procurement strategy of large consumers.…”

“…• the var set point varPC CP inv of the inverter connected on CP link grid; while respecting the var constraint on the border with LV varCns CP LV Some practical applications of Equation ( 5) are shown in Section 3.3.4 and in reference [74]. Abstract: The ideal distributed network composed of distributed generations (DGs) has unweighted and undirected interactions which omit the impact of the power grid structure and actual demand.…”

“…It divides the power system into chains of grid-, producer-, and storage-links, which fit one into another to establish flexible and reliable electrical connections [28]. The standardized structure of LINK-based smart grids allows for realizing the Volt/var process in the horizontal and vertical axes as chain controls that minimize the necessary data exchanges [29]. While the horizontal axis includes the interconnected high voltage (HV) grids, the vertical ones contain all system levels, i.e., HV, MV, LV, and CP levels [30].…”
