Bending Behavior Analysis of Composite Girders with Concrete Filled Tubular Flange

Abstract: In order to study the bending capacity of steel and concrete composite girder with concrete filled tubular flange (SCCGCFTF), a formula for the ultimate bending capacity of normal section was proposed based on perfected elastic-plastic model for steel and restricted concrete model for inner high performance self-compacted concrete. Analysis result shows that the mechanical behavior under static load can be divided into two phases in accordance with confining effects. Confining effects strength of the concrete-… Show more

“…The steel and concrete composite girder with concrete-filled tubular up-flange (SCCGCFTF) is a new type composite structure. Compared with conventional composite I-shape girder (CCIG), the single SCCGCFTF has obvious advantages [1][2][3][4]. Currently, the research concerning SCCGCFTF is chiefly restricted to the mechanical characters of single girder [1][2][3][4].…”

“…The web depth of the new composite girder is reduced, and lateral torsion buckling stiffness is improved, which can increase the buckling capacity of the girder. Further details on this issue are presented in some papers [1,2]. Compared with conventional composite I-girders, CFRTFCG has significant advantages, such as superior strength, rigidity, and stability under the same amount of steel.…”

“…Currently, the research concerning CFRTFCG is still insufficient. The bending properties of composite girders with round tubular up-flanges have been investigated [1,2,3]. The influence of diaphragm number and layout to the stability of composite girders with round tubular up-flanges was also studied [4,5].…”
