Abstract:Evidence on optimal drug dosing in children is lacking, especially in critically ill children. This vulnerable population is particularly susceptible to overdosing and underdosing due to illness-associated changes in drug pharmacokinetics and important gaps in drug dosing guidance. Beta-lactams are commonly used for empiric treatment of pediatric sepsis due to their broad-spectrum activity and low toxicity. Their efficacy relies on the fraction of time that the free concentrations (ƒt-unbound to plasma protein… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
