Bi-Level Programming-Based Regional Ecological Management Model in Xiamen

Abstract: The shortage of land resources, ecological damage and pollutant discharge pose great challenges to the sustainable development of Xiamen. In this study, a bi-level programming (BP) is developed to manage the regional ecosystem of reclamation (REM). BP can balance the trade-off between the two decision makers, including maximizing the system benefit as the upper level goal, maximizing the ecological service value as the lower level goal, and constructing the regional ecosystem management system model in Xiamen.… Show more

“…Subsequently, Jiang et al proposed the theory of the "social-economic-natural" composite ecosystem [26][27][28][29], which holds valuable reference value for the subsequent development of urbanization and ecosystems. Building on the foundation of theoretical research, scholars have conducted empirical studies on the coupling between urbanization and ecosystems in countries such as the United States, Pakistan, South Korea, and China [30][31][32][33][34], providing empirical evidence of the intricate interactions between ecosystems and urbanization systems [16,19,[35][36][37]. There is a significant body of research exploring the interrelationship between urbanization and ecosystem services.…”

“…When deploying development planning for urban agglomerations, coordinated development among different cities should be considered. Tian et al [31] analyzed the factors affecting the ecological environment of land reclamation areas from the perspective of land reclamation. Fang et al [32] established a regional ecosystem management system model based on a two-layer plan to manage the ecosystem and sustainable development in Xiamen, China.…”
