Big Data in the Aerospace Industry

Abstract: This paper presents the approaches related to the need for large volume data analysis, Big Data, and also the information that the beneficiaries of this analysis can interpret. Aerospace companies understand better the challenges of Big Data than the rest of the industries. Also, in this paper we describe a novel analytical system that enables query processing and predictive analytics over streams of large aviation data.

“…In terms of volume, the growth of data created by airline businesses has always been rapid, from a byte to a massive quantity produced per minute with the inclusion of diverse and numerous data sources including booking, advertisement, fuel, flight route, etc. [34]. In terms of velocity, a large volume of airline data is generated, and it is important that it be reviewed, evaluated, and processed rapidly, with a linkage to previous data used to predict the outcome based on the airline businesses' capabilities [4,35].…”

“…Advanced data analytics techniques enabled airlines to engage in more accurate realtime customer intelligence which in turn improves personalized marketing and price discrimination (Knorr, 2019). The most important practices of big data analytics in airlines are predictive maintenance that aims to reduce costs and minimize maintenance (Badea et al, 2018). Improving customer interaction and revenue management is the motive for using big data (Chen et al, 2017).…”

“…The phrase "Big Data" refers to the development and application of technologies that offer the appropriate user with the right information at the right time from a massive amount of data that has been expanding exponentially in our society for a long time. The issue is not just dealing with fast expanding data volumes, but also handling more varied forms as well as increasingly complicated and interlinked data [35]. Simulation -as expected, simulation is up there with the most important innovations and techniques of Industry 4.0.…”
