Big data monetization throughout Big Data Value Chain: a comprehensive review

Abstract: Value creation is the rational goal of any organization. However, in a changing world, in terms of data, it is very difficult to find strategies to sustainably generate new value and improve operations. In this respect, generating value may mean revisiting some deeplyheld conceptions of different processes. For this, each organization has to ensure an efficient and updated management of value creation processes for both inter-organization and partners. Value chain (VC) is one of the key solutions to such dilem… Show more

“…For instance, Verma et al [23] defined BDA as a suite of data management and analytical techniques for handling complex data sets, which in turn lead to a better understanding of the underlying process. Faroukhi et al [37] defined BDA as a process of analysing raw data in order to obtain information that is understandable to humans, which are hard to observe using direct analysis. Davenport [38] simply defined BDA as a "focus on very large, unstructured and fast moving data".…”

“…In datadriven organizations, big data is regarded as a critical strategic asset [24]. The capability to manage big data generates opportunities for organizations to attain viable benefits in the present digitized marketplace [25,26]. This capability requires cost-effective and distinctive novel big data tools to be put in place [22,26,27].…”

“…The main source of this exponentially increased data is coming from the unstructured data of social networks, blogs, text messages, videos and audio (Braganza, Brooks, Nepelski, Ali, & Moro, 2017). Variety refers to the different types of data that can be manipulated using BD technologies (Faroukhi, El Alaoui, Gahi, & Amine, 2020). Structured, semistructured, and unstructured data types are currently included under BD processes (Faroukhi, El Alaoui, Gahi, & Amine, 2020).…”
