Bioassay guided fractionation and identification of active anti-inflammatory constituent fromDelonix elataflowers using RAW 264.7 cells

Abstract: Context: Delonix elata (L.) Gamble (Fabaceae) has been used in the Indian traditional medicine system to treat rheumatism and inflammation. Aim: To assess the anti-inflammatory effect of Delonix elata flowers and to isolate the active principle. Materials and methods: The prompt anti-inflammatory constituent was isolated from Delonix elata flower extracts using bioassay guided fractionation in liposaccharide (LPS) stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophage cell line. The anti-inflammatory activity of extracts/fractions/s… Show more

“…Different parts of Delonix elata proved to posses anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic activities experimentally (Saravanan and Hairul, 2015, Murugananthan and Mohan, 2011, Manimekalai et al, 2011). These effects may explain its use for ear problems.…”

“…In inflammatory diseases, CD4 T cells serve as a potential source of proinflammatory cytokines. Depending on the pattern of regulatory transcriptional factors such as SOX5, AHR and NFkB, the polarization of autoimmune diseases progresses in host cell differentiation and maturation [ 36 , 37 ]. The MOG-antigenic stimulation in splenocytes was attenuated by BEY treatment, as evidenced by the substantial suppression of the SOX-5 expression level.…”

“…To isolate bioactive molecules, bioassay-guided fractionation is commonly employed [ 12 ]. This has led to the study of a wide variety of bioactive substances present in fractions and subfractions during the isolation process [ 12 ]. Hence, this strategy was used in this work to isolate and identify antitumor metabolites from Inga species.…”
