“…With higher concentrations of 40% dimetoate, the movements of recently hatched larvae and 3-day old larvae were slower than the control. dIscussIon Some LC 50 values for organophosphate compounds in freshwater fish are reported in the literature (Menzie, 1969;Verma et al, 1979;Verma et al, 1982;Karim et al, 1985;Rodrigues, 1994). Exemplifying, 96-h LC 50 value of 4.57 µg.L -1 was found for Saccobrachus fossilis exposed to dimethoate (Verma et al, 1979).…”

“…Tables 1 and 2 demonstrate that the three OPs were highly toxic to Daphnia magna and that the acute toxicity sequence was dipterex > parathion > malathion. Other invertebrates and some fish also demonstrated the same order of toxicity among the three OPs, including fresh water teleost Saccobranchus fossilis (Verma et al 1982), midges (Belden and Lydy 2001), grass shrimp Palaemonetes pugio (Peter et al 1998) and goldfish Carassius auratus (Ana et al 2004). This suggested that the acute relative toxicity of the OPs might be analogous across these species.…”
