Biocompatible and thermo-responsive nanocapsule synthesis through vesicle templating

Abstract: Thermo-responsive and biocompatible cross-linked nanocapsules were synthesized through dimethyldioctadecylammonium bromide (DODAB) vesicle templating. Due to their properties, they can be considered as promising nanocarriers in controlled drug delivery.

“…In the last few years, the development of multi-compartmental tools is providing delivery devices especially relevant in the fields of medicine and biology [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. A great number of them is designed by taking advantage of the self-assembly properties of the constituents [8][9][10][11][12][13][14].…”

“…They also studied the loading of hydrophobic monomer to the hydrophobic wall domains in the bilayer structure of liposome membranes, and their work suggested no considerable occurrence of fusion of liposomes during monomer loading . It should be noted that, based on electrostatic or other interactions, surfaces of liposomes can also be utilized to adsorb reagents to induce crosslinking polymerization for the preparation of CPNCs (Scheme (c)) …”

“…External stimuli provide the driving force to release payloads from PNCs for targeted release. Many studies on stimuliresponsive PNCs deal with only one stimulus such as redox potential, 12,40 pH change, 46 temperature, 47 or light. 48 However, several external parameters may change simultaneously in the surrounding medium of the application.…”
