Abstract:Retromer is a peripheral membrane protein complex that plays a critical role in a broad range of physiological, developmental and pathological processes by mediating retrograde transport of proteins from endosomes to the trans-Golgi (TGN) network. Wnt signalling, toxin transport and amyloid production in Alzheimer's disease are just some of the processes known to be regulated by retromer-mediated trafficking. Mammalian retromer consists of a core heterotrimeric cargorecognition subcomplex associated with a mem… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
