“…For example, BM 90 can use hydroxybutyric and propionic acid: this is somehow in accord with the work of Loo and Sudesh (2007) that demonstrated the use of these compounds by D. acidovorans for the production of polyhydroxybutyrate and polyhydroxyalcanoate granules.…”

“…The use of propionic and valeric acids as sole carbon sources during fermentation may inhibit the cells growth which is reflected by the low amount of CDW. Both propionic and valeric acids shared a same pKa (4.75e4.87), but propionic acid exhibited more detrimental effect to the cells because it has shorter n-alkyl chains [16]. However, combination of those acids with acetic acid resulted in improvement in CDW, PHA content and composition of 3HV units.…”

“…Examples are Cupriavidus necator former Ralstonia eutropha [11][12], Alcaligenes latus [13][14], Comamonas acidovorans ( [14][15][16], Comamonas testosteronii [17] and Hydrogenophaga pseudoflava [18]. Recombinant E. coli has also been used to obtain P(3HB-co-4HB) with 2.8 mol% 4HB [19] as well as to produce the homopolymer P(4HB) [10], for medical purposes at Tepha Inc.…”
